I think you sound a bit odd, but if you want to be that way, then be it. But don't diss social stuff, it's more important than if everyone just observed and made notes. i am interested in this guy. i feel a bit embarrassed to admit this as i think it must look very strange but i saw a guys video blogs on my friends facebook page a few months ago. i find him really funny so i added him. Is it advisable to have a storm contractor present when your insurance adjuster is calculating the damage?

My home received hail damage this past wkend...siding is pitted in many places, broken and cracked in other locations, there is possible roof damage and places where softball sized hail hit wood. It cracked the windshield of a car parked in my driveway as well as many dents in the hood and the top of the car. My neighborhood is now flooded with storm contractors that want you to hire them to do the repair to the house. Each of them are offering to be present at the time the insurance adjuster is here calculating what they will cover in damages. Is it a good thing to have a professional contractor present at the same time as the adjuster, or would that make it worse? I've never had a home claim before, so this is all new to me. I wouldn't even know what company to call to do the repair, but some of these guys have great information that I am learning from. One company tho, stated that I would have to turn over the insurance check first, before they did the work...I am not privy to that at all. The next company said that was not a good policy and they would not expect any of the payment until the work was done. My main question is: Will an insurance adjuster be ticked off that a contractor is present, or do they support having one there? Seems to be the going way with all these "storm chasers"......they all give free estimates and want to be present with the insurance adjuster.

They make kids applying with lower go through all these hoops. (another essay explaining your grades, ect). Your chances at UF and Penn State are very low to none, at USF they're not that great either, and at USF not that good either. That 2.9 is holding you back. If you can, raise it to at least a 3.0 or higher to stand a chance at any of the Florida schools. Take the ACT, anything can help.

Storm chasers who are communicating live with local tv stations can save lives because they can see the tornadoes and if they are on the ground. Seeing one on the ground is more serious than a radar indicated tornado. They also provide live video for local tv stations of the storm and what it's doing which can be helpful for people in its path when they are trying to decide what to do. As for the hurricanes, I don't know but I don't live in a hurricane-prone area.

Me and My Partner (Husbear)?

Hello everyone! My name is Edward and I have been in a relationship with my husbear, Larry, for 13 years. It's bittersweet, mostly sweet but the bitter parts have caused a great deal of pain between us that have gradually gotten better over time. I met him when I was 24 and he was 36 at a coffeehouse we both frequented. I would love to tell the story of how we met one day. But he was into guys like me (chasers) and I always had repressed feelings for guys like him (bears). Before I met Larry, I only dated and had relationships with women. He is the first guy, and the only guy, I've ever been with. Over time we both revealed our feelings for each other and I moved into his apartment after he begged me for weeks. He was a computer programmer now professor at a local community college in computer science. And I am a writer for a newspaper. He is Jewish so I studied for a year with a Rabbi and converted into the Conservative branch. We had a Reform commitment ceremony as they were the only branch officiating at the time then. We had a boy from a surrogate mother who was a friend of Larry's. Larry wanted to raised him Jewish, so we had him circumcised on the 8th day and he attends a Hebrew Day School. He is ten years old and I am so proud of him! But Larry has always been somewhat of a jealous person. He would become silent when he thought my eyes strayed towards other hefty men. I never did. I asked him what was wrong and he would say he was tired or he was ill. One day I caught him looking up my email when I came back to get a drink. He was breathing quite hard, concentrating on the headlines of each letter. We both sat down and he revealed to me he was diagnosed with paranoid personality disorder when he was in college. He was on pills but he threw them away after he met because. He said I was his cure and all he needed was me to fight the tendencies. I told him it was sweet but he needed professional help and we got him back into therapy and medication. But it seems he has gotten so use to the medication he is addicted to it. Not in a drug addict sense but in a sense that he needs it to function normally. The psychiatrist and doctor's would tell him to stop taking it for two weeks to see if he got better without it. During those two weeks he would question me about everything and my love for him. During those times we'd take a trip somewhere with our son and that calmed him temporarily until he got back on the medication. But now he has been on the medication for a year, until those weeks when he is off it, and has been attending his sessions which I go and wait outside for him. Sometimes he says when he goes to his therapist, he worries I am with another bear, or a beautiful girl, during that hour so I have to bring our son along to reassure him. He is getting better, much better than when social networking became a big thing (I'll tell that story another time). He expresses his fears of me abandoning him with our son, that one day someone else, someone younger will come along and steal us away from him. But he also swears he'll work to get better, which he has. For the past 6 years now he has taken his medication and followed the dcotor's orders of when to taken them and not. And he has not missed a session. So what I am saying is why is he still like this after all these years? Does he need the medication that much to fight the tendencies? I don't want anyone else, he is a daddy bear, 330 pounds with a burly, graying beard; smart, funny, romantic, what more could I want from a guy? Thanks in advance for your answers. :)

it seems like you're ready to just go to the guitar store and buy one. you already know what you want, which sets you apart from most people going into the guitar store. when a vision is as clear as yours you don't really need advice. i have been playing for over 25 years and i have certain things that are a must in my guitars so i know what i want in a new one. i have a couple recommendations based on what you say you want. i have used both of these at one point in time or another and they are definitely smooth playing and got any tone you can imagine. the only thing that will hold you back is your amp and effects. if you play one of these and can't get the tone you want it ain't the guitar's fault. these are expensive. but if you want the best you have to pay to get it. good luck and happy hunting.

I just finished my sophomore year in the pre-IB program and it was not too bad except for five or six points in the year. Universities only look at your grade 12 marks. They will look at your grade 11 marks only for early acceptance. Otherwise they are negligible. When you start grade 12 they will give you a book or a website where you can look at the acceptance averages. They vary from year to year and from school to school. But also keep in mind if you are having problems with sciences now you may want to be open to other programs because science doesn't get easier when you go to university. Trust me I'm currently doing it. But based on your grade 11 grades i dont think you will have any major problems. Just work hard.

Will I ever find a guy?

I'm a Freshman in high school, and I've only ever had 3 boyfriends, but it seems like I won't ever find a lasting relationship with a guy. My first boyfriend was great-he gave me butterflies in my stomach the whole 3 months we were together, but then we broke up because he cheated on me in the summer. Guitar Distortion Pedals?

Hey guys, I am currently looking for some preferably high-end guitar distortion (or whatever is needed) type of pedals to get a few different sounds of music. I have a Dean Warbird and a Schecter Hellraiser Special C1-FR (incase you need to know) going through a marshall 100-watt amp (hoping to eventually upgrade to a half-stack, but ill post another question for that when the time comes). I have a distortion pedal, but it is one of those do-everything pedals that is electronic and doesnt specialize in anything in particular, and hoping to upgrade. I have saved up a little money, and want to get some new ones. I am in a band that plays rock (to appease to the bar setting that most of our gigs are at), metal and postcore/deathcore stuff occasionally (very ranged genre type, i know). I was hoping to get pedals that really make my sound great for all of those. If possible, I am hoping to get a pedal that would have great tone and crispness for classic rock, but with enough distortion to play modern rock. The second pedal I want is one that has great gain/distortion and would have the dark and very distorted (but not sooooo much that it is unbearable and undistinguishable) sound that bands like Attila/Within the Ruins would use. I would also like one (for me, not really for the band) that would have the right sound and tone for, say, Avenged Sevenfold type of songs, with lots of solos and preferably made to sound geat with drop D.......... I know this is asking a lot, but if you guys could compile maybe a list or at least answer to one of those, that would be really,really helpful....... Thanks.

Physics question: units for speed?

You are correct. The common (SI) notation is m/s though, but anything can work as long as it's distance/time. But we see speed used in everyday life as in mph, km/h, etc. If you add a direction then it becomes velocity, so as long as you keep it a scalar quantity with appropriate units (distance/time) then it is valid.

I would suggest that you majorly boost your extracurricular activities because if your grades are not stellar, that's the next thing that universities look at. I don't know about Concordia or Bishop, but it's unlikely that you'll get into McGill with those grades, as the competition is stiff and they even turn straight-A students away. Your grade 10 and 11 marks are the most important because you'll have to submit high school grades in the middle of your grade 12 year so they won't be able to base your admission on your entire grade 12 year. Imagination: Good or Bad?

I have a slight problem. Actually, I don't know if this is a problem. Ever since I was a little kid, I have always loved fantasy and later on the entirety of the fantasy genre. In 5th grade I tried writing a cute two page story. Now I am in 9th grade and can write a good 50 something pages. However, when I'm not writing, y imagination takes hold of me. Everything I do to relax (games, anime, books, fantasy) is fuel for my imagination. I've compiled so many morals and have seen such emotion in other people's works that it holds me in a heavenly state. I get so excited, often picturing my own characters in the stories or using the material to help strengthen my own work's spiritual value, accuracy, etc. I put on my favorite bands and use the emotions i the song to daydream. Oh, but I can't be so normal and inanimate with such a rush building. I have to pace, or some other mundane thing. If I had hours I would pace forever. I know people don't usually pace over feels, or at least I don't think they do. I spend(waste) so much time pacing though, that it takes away from my time for finding new things, new stories, etc. There is also the fact that I think something is wrong with me. Is this sort of imagination rush normal? Has anyone else ever done something similar? Also, I want to relax and see new stuff, but I'm afraid if I do I will get myself riled to the point that my pacing will wear me out (to late, it actually has several times) or cause some sort of condition that will affect my schoolwork. It is, to put t simply, like an addiction. Um, what should I do about this? I want to do these things, but not sure if it is the best thing for my health, especially since my heart beats extra-fast for extended periods of time that is not normal compared to other people. Am I shortening my life or something? Basically, is this imagination a good or bad thing, and if bad what do I do about it? Yeah, this was really difficult to explain.

I questioned why 13.50 an hour only and the recruiter said in an apologetic tone, "this is all we can offer. times are tough". After some more conversation I discovered that it is a "temp" job. Then after some more conversation I discovered that there are no benefits being offered. Then after some more conversation I also discovered that, "training will not be paid. first 4 weeks is training". So he is saying that for the first 160 hours I work free because training is not paid. And then its also a temp job. I thought after 160 free hours, he will just say "its temp job so its over now" and take a lot of work. I refused the offer.

I asked him what was wrong and he would say he was tired or he was ill. One day I caught him looking up my email when I came back to get a drink. He was breathing quite hard, concentrating on the headlines of each letter. We both sat down and he revealed to me he was diagnosed with paranoid personality disorder when he was in college. He was on pills but he threw them away after he met because. He said I was his cure and all he needed was me to fight the tendencies. I told him it was sweet but he needed professional help and we got him back into therapy and medication. But it seems he has gotten so use to the medication he is addicted to it. Not in a drug addict sense but in a sense that he needs it to function normally. The psychiatrist and doctor's would tell him to stop taking it for two weeks to see if he got better without it. During those two weeks he would question me about everything and my love for him. During those times we'd take a trip somewhere with our son and that calmed him temporarily until he got back on the medication. But now he has been on the medication for a year, until those weeks when he is off it, and has been attending his sessions which I go and wait outside for him. Sometimes he says when he goes to his therapist, he worries I am with another bear, or a beautiful girl, during that hour so I have to bring our son along to reassure him. He is getting better, much better than when social networking became a big thing (I'll tell that story another time). He expresses his fears of me abandoning him with our son, that one day someone else, someone younger will come along and steal us away from him. But he also swears he'll work to get better, which he has. For the past 6 years now he has taken his medication and followed the dcotor's orders of when to taken them and not. And he has not missed a session. So what I am saying is why is he still like this after all these years? Does he need the medication that much to fight the tendencies? I don't want anyone else, he is a daddy bear, 330 pounds with a burly, graying beard; smart, funny, romantic, what more could I want from a guy? Thanks in advance for your answers. :)

Is engineering a good education/career path in East Texas or Northwest Arkansas?

I am in the process of transferring to University of Arkansas to pursue engineering. I spend my freshman and sophomore college years in accounting, and finally realized I hated it. I have always been a more hands on person and very strong in math and science, and particularly enjoy physics (not to say it is easy). I am from East Texas and also love the Northwest Arkansas area. Is anyone familiar with the engineering job opportunities in these areas? I know cities in East Texas (Dallas, Ft. Worth, Houston, Austin, etc.) have strong technology and energy economies, and I know NW Arkansas is a young, booming area. But is anyone familiar with the job markets??

Acidity of Coka cola vs orange juice or other drinks?

I take adderall xr and i would like to be more aware of what to look out for as far as foods go in relation to its bodily absorption rate. Recently I learned that its effects can be enhanced when your gastrointestinal track is less acidic, which can be atcheived via taking an antacid. I have proven this true through safe experimentation. The problem i have now is measuring the acidity of soft drinks like coca cola which contains small amounts of carbonic acid. I have asked several chemists already but their beliefs are differing. Can anyone clarify acidity of coca cola and or other soft drinks. If someone could compile a list of drinks by acidity or find a link to that type of content I would sincerely appreciate it!

Does a landlord in Michigan have to provide proper wiring to support a stove to cook on?

I understand Michigan law does not require a landlord toprovide appliances, but we live in a home where the wiring does not support a stove, and if we use the microwave while the coffee pot is on, we trip a breaker! The septic is run under the driveway & we are blamed & threatened every time there are septic issues. We have a 13yr old son & a 7mo son & love the place, yet we are dealing with a landlord who admittedly LOST a month's rent check & told us we were pushing our luck for being behind in the rent! Would it be a good idea to take Multivar. Calculus and Linear Algebra in the same semester?

I'm not sure why it wouldn't be a good idea? It isn't really all that different from taking any other classes at the same time. Most people take 2-3 heavy courses at a time, and 1-2 "filler" classes that require less time and effort are snuck in.

What's faster: 2.7GHz dual-core or 2.2GHz quad-core?

Assuming that both are of the same generation, i.e. Intel Core I7 (Gen 2), the dual core would actually be faster because many programs cannot work with multi-threads. BUT, if you bought the quad core, you could easily overclock the CPU in the bios to 2.7 GHz and they would be equally as fast, but the quad core could handle many more open programs simultaneously.

Why can't compiled languages be interpreted?

Yes and if you're using an IDE, not really. C++ and other non scripting language based programs need to be compiled to check for errors, and build your program correctly linked with specific libraries attributed with the OS (I/O for example). In scripting languages you're used to finding errors at runtime because there is no real compilation.

Is there a website that lets you write code and then compiles/runs it?

That online thing only works with simple code snippets and single files. The real compiler will do the same thing as the online thing, but tons faster. Simply running the program after compilation also shows you the output (assuming there are no compile-time or run-time errors).

I'm not really sure what type of University you're lookin at. Harvard, probably not. Harvard probably requires a 4.0 or really close and really active in stuff. Most public state universities are pretty easy to get into if your GPA is above 2.6 or something. So you are off to a great start! A lot of colleges look at any volunteer work you do too which gives you an extremely good edge for colleges and jobs after college.
