Any good recent jazz documentaries?
You could do a lost worse than search for "Jazz - A Film By Ken Burns" or "Masters Of Jazz". The Ken Burns documentary is really the definitive history of jazz from its roots in the 19th century up to the present day and lasts over 12 and a half hours on 4 cd's, but well worth it. Masters Of Jazz is a 4 disc set containing 10 separate documentary films covering artists like Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn. Neither are cheap but well worth the cost. If you are serious about learning about the history of jazz you will not regret spending the money.
